Help in Price?

[whisper] ecoboost supercrew with bags [/whisper]

Not to hijack again, and if I wasn't working would have tried to help but I don't have a trailer.

But anyway, towing my rig down to moab for the first time with my new ecoboost next week, i'm anxious to see how it does

Thread hijack - how do you like towing with that Tundra? I'm really wanting to ditch my 3/4 ctd ton for one...

I love it. The 5.7 has tons of power and it rides like a cadillac inside. Kevin and I were discussing this on the way home. Before I bought the Tundra, I rode in my buddies 3/4 ton CTD. It rode REALLY rough. If I was towing 24x7x365, I'd buy a 1 ton dually CTD without hesitation. But, since I daily drive this and it's mostly empty, I wanted something with a smoother ride. Being the CrewMax, the rear squats pretty quickly with weight in the bed or lots of tongue weight, but it's towing capacity is still 10,000 lbs. We started off with the 4Runner too far forward and I didn't like how it handled. At Soldier Summit, we better centered it over the tandem axles and it rode MUCH better the rest of the way home.

The Ford EcoBoost sounds very appealing - time will tell how reliable it is.

I towed a Jeep with the Toyota 5.7 once, and while it needed to rev like a typical gasser, it was such an incredibly silky smooth engine that it didn't seem to matter how fast it was spinning. And it had plenty of power. Sounds like a pair of airbags would take care of the squat without affecting the ride when empty.

My only concern would be longevity of the smallish rear axle, though the Toyota's seem to do more with less. (is it still the same as a Dana 44?) It is my observation that axles with a ring gear smaller than 9.5" don't live long when towing 4x4ish type loads (5000+lbs).

Also, props for the rescue, you're the boss!

The second gen Tundra (2007 - present) have a 10.5" ring gear in the rear axle. According to Toyota, it's a 1/2 ton truck "with 3/4 ton parts."

I came from a '99 Super Duty to an '04 Dodge and thought the Dodge rode REALLY nice. I actually prefer it compared to my wife's air-ride Navigator. What year was the CTD?
