It does plainly state that the whteel pattern has to be changed. I didn't interpret anything beyond that fact. My understanding behind the spydertrax and it being an "adapter" is just the fact that it actually mates to the previous studs. I'm sure they did this mainly for marketing legality. We all know adapters are to take one bolt pattern to another. But in the end it's up to the tech who is checking the vehicle who has the final say.
What I would suggest is going to a small shop and you're chances are greater that they won't look or even care. Not naming names but a person with a green tacoma mentioned what he is running and his guy doesn't seem to care, why want pm him. I know a place that doesn't even take my wheels off.
