someone had specially ordered it at guitar center then backed out on it. so i got lucky there, and didn't have to wait the couple of months it usually takes to get them.

Yeah, the higher-end kits take time as many are "built to order". Back in '94, I went to the DW factory and hand picked my shells as well as the components. My kit arrived 7 months later. Sure, I could have picked one that was already made, but the whole process woudn't have been nearly as cool.

I'm really surprised they let the guy back-out on a custom order like that...

Did they work ya a deal?
