Help me prevent hitting my TV with an ax

mbryson, I'd give them a call and get a promotional rate. You've got to play the stupid game of "I'm considering going to a different company" but they will change your amount. After a year and eight months without cable and Internet (we live with my in-laws during our remodel) we just came back and it's 49.99. (We could've gotten it for $45.99 if we went with the door-to-door Xfinity/Comcast salesman).

In 6 months I'll have to call and have the rate frozen for another 6 months, which annoys me to no end because they have the WORST customer service but I hate extra paying for stuff we don't need/use. Really, the cable is just a bonus since all I really want is Internet. It's tough to find programming that's creative and well-written. Mostly it's all junk.

Been "playing the game" for 8 years. Beyond sick of it

I dumped TV about 8 years ago. Never looked back. Just Comcast high speed cable ($60/month), a MacMini connected to my TV. Netflix, Amazon Prime, eztv.it and I've been set.

I had been looking at the alternatives to comcast cable for a while, so this thread pushed me to do it due to my bill going up to 130 a month in a week. I'm getting my same internet which tested at 22 down yesterday folr 49.99 for one year. We currently rent a modem, but I want to stop that. What is a good modem and what do they cost? We have a router already.
