So, how did the distributor get turned 180?

good question...I know 100% for sure I didn't touch it, I wouldn't dare touch it since I dont know what the crap I am doing, and Carl already said it never got touched while it was at RL...I'm not questioning how it got turned, it runs now and thats all that matters:D...personally I think it had to do with the crappy mechanic my parents had do the swap into the van...he prolly somehow got it running like it was and called it good...he was a major hack job...

It doesn't take much to turn one... even if the clip holding it was loose, it would turn (I had that happen while driving a 76 GMC stepside)

Did you learn how to turn a Distributor and hook up the timing light???? It will be very useful again someday...trust me....

Glad ya got her running

Yeah, they're easy to turn a little, but to turn it 180* don't you have to pull it all the way out and put it back in? Hmmm... So who all was at Rock Logic while the engine was there that could have done it? James K? Greg (and he knew what the problem was too...)? Bryson? Brett? Herzog was there a couple times... I bet it was Greg. -_-

sabatage(sp?)

yeah, to turn a full 180* is really iffy, considering the bolt was pretty tight...I still think it had something to do with my parents hack job of a machanic...and it was lined perfectly 180*...we even checked it by going by the valves and it was supposed to be right how it was...we turned it for the hell of it and BAM, fired right up...:p

Theoretically, couldn't you get it to run perfectly 180* off by putting the plug wires on the cap 180* off as well? Maybe that's what he did.

Yea you can, but only to confuse the hell out of the next guy (caleb) who has to double check everything. :shawn:

I am guessing you were right on the plug wires being mixed up previously. You have to pull it to turn it 180*, a loose bolt won't just "Let it slip" that far... unless it was like, so loose the bolt was missing, and you were driving, and hit a big bmp, and the distrib jumped up and turned 180 and miraculously engaged the oil pump shaft on the way down.... yeah, I guess that could happen :ugh: :ugh:
