Actually there's a 5.38 for the D30 now, but I think 4.88's would be just right for 35's and an auto

Unless you're planning on jaunts over 70 mph. My Jeep HATED that RPM and rewarded me with poor fuel mileage (35" MTR and 4.88 gears).
Ya I'm sure you'd do better on the road mpg wise with 4.56's esp when you put the 33's on.... but I would not be able to stand the lack of power from the "HO" (
) with 4.56's

Wow.......my 4.88 pinion was SMALL.....I bet that 5.38 unit is barely bigger than the pinion shaft.
That's the only word that comes to mind when I see a D30

Yeah... Im all for small axle big tire combos but it seems like 5.38's on a 30 is too far. I mean if you need 4.88s youre pushing the limits of the axle as it is.

for as much trash talk there is on the D30 and D35 ive never had any problems on my tj with 35's stock shaft and all and i wheel the crap out of it. still nothing has broke. dont get me wrong im not saying they are the greatest axles in the world im actually planning on putting a 9in in the rear but unless uve broke it already, y fix it?
