Hello all....

I SUCK.....

I am using MS Publisher 2007 to create a web page for the doc that I am working for down here. I have already built the page to what I need right now. When I upload it to godaddy hosting, with the pictures, nothing shows up. I try to link the pictures to the web page but, nothing.

Not impressed with godaddy so far. Called for support and they could not help.

Any help or direction is appreciated.

Let me add a little more.

The webpage will come up with everything that I have written into it, however, the pictures show up in a white framed box with a red x in the corner.

You need to upload the images as well.

Just a guess, not being a web dood, but all your pics probably need to be uploaded somewhere on the domain you have set up, then linked from there to the web page you built. Maybe right now they're only hosted on your local computer, and obviously can't be seen by the rest of the internet?

create a folder called "image" on the godaddy server. Then put all of your images inside that folder.

Then on your web page to use the image use "/image/yourfilename.jpg"

And it will work

If you show us a link to your site I am sure you will get even more help

Thank you!!! When MS Publisher creates an index.html is also saves a folder that needs to be tagged with it. All I needed to do was create a new folder on the hosting server, then upload what Publisher had put in the folder in the first place. That did it!!!!

The site is mividahealth.com, it is cheesy for the time being. Lots of things to work on.

Thanks again.

well it just worked fine for me... I'm guessing you got it all figured out.
Just a word of opinion; when setting up your pages, make your widths "float" as much as possible, automatically adjusting to 100% of the screens resolution instead of being a fixed width. Not sure how or if possible to do that in Publisher as I have never used it.
It drives me nuts when I go to a page on my laptop and the page width is set above 1200 pixels wide and i have to scroll sideways to read everything. It is fine on my PC, but my laptop (as are many other older screens) are limited on the screen resolution.

Just my $.02 on website design...

also, there are a couple people that I know that use godaddy and are not liking the hosting... I use Network Solutions for my website and have been happy from day 1. They have an online page design editor which is nice if I need to update the page. I can makes changes from any pc with internet access. It really is simple to use and is fairly powerful. example of page built with the online editor www.kingcrawlers.org (piggy backed on www.jdubaudio.com)

For what it is worth.... I have 3 different hosting accounts with godaddy right now. And I have been happy with them. I monitor uptime very closely and have never seen any of the sites go down at all.

You can call their customer support number 24 hours a day and get a rep on the phone. I can never remember ever even being on hold with them. And I can't ever think of a time when I have left the conversation without my problem being resolved. Also I have never spoken to anyone who did not have full command of the english language :)

I will say they are not a technical as other hosting. For example they do not allow SSH access with their cheap plan. Not sure about the other plans. No cpanel access for detailed server activity. Things like that I do miss.

I do like that you can pay up front for 2 years of hosting and they give you a discount. I pay less than $4 a month for hosting and for that price I can't complain. Then if you cancel the hosting plan they will refund the prorated rate back to you.

But I would not hesitate to recomend others to use them unless you have more technical needs or need more server control than a basic hosting.
