Anyone on here running high compression pistons and a turbo?
Will have. 22r with 9.7 :1 pistons and would like 5 lbs of boost

Been reading and see it can be done and can work well just needs almost perfect tuning

Also I'll be running propane

The propane should help... you're getting up there. Is there any reason you're running those pistons instead of building in less compression?

i love it turbo+high compressin= Fun:)
Though id run a different head and head gasket meant for that kinda pressure. Id think going to 10 or 11:1 compression would be better than a turbo

The motor has already been built or mostly built.. I told them best head gasket they have and arp studs..

I really want a turbo just because.. There cool :)

5 psi at this elevation? easy... thats the same thing as running like 2.5psi of boost at sea level.
You wouldn't need "almost perfect tuning", it would just need to be done right (which is kinda rare for some reason).

I was running 7psi on my stock Camaro motor which is ~10.4:1, intercooler, 91 octane, no methanol injection or anything fancy.

Would it be worth the money to turbo if only runnin a few lbs of boost

It all depends, most vehicles can be turbo'd very cheap if that's your goal, they also can be simply 'turned up' if you ever build the motor.
My camaro dropped almost 2 full seconds in the 1/4 mile just from a few pounds of boost lol

This is my motor basically ..everything I've found is saying3000$ to turbo and that's alot to me to only get a few extra horse

If you build the piping yourself you could do it for half that. A turbo is like $300. On most stock motors you can add 50%+ more power no problem.

It sounds like a fun combo. You could find a nice used t3/t4 similar to what was used on the ford 2.3 turbo motors for cheap. No need to use a chineese knock off. You can always use a FMU to control fuel, and at low boost levels they work pretty well. I would run a decent intercooler and you should be fine. Plumb in a BOV and a wastegate if the turbo doesnt have one intregal to the housing and your off. You may want to back off the timing a little to try and control detonation.
You could also go to a system like megasquirt. It takes a while to get it tuned just right, but in the end it offers much more precise fuel and spark control.
