Hill holding options

I'm trying to figure out the best way to be able to operate the brake, clutch and accelerator simultaneously.

Options I'm aware of are:

1. Hand throttle.

2. Line lock.

3. Hand-operated e-brake/parking brake lever.

Have any of you used these and could you offer me some advice? -thanks

The hand throttle looks like a good option and is inexpensive. However I've heard they're very sensitive and I wonder if that makes a smooth drivetrain engagement difficult.

The line lock sounds like it's either on or off -- no controllable variation on amount of brake pressure applied.

A hand-operated e-brake sounds like the best solution, but would require finding an easily-reachable location and might be a lot more work than it's worth. Has anybody fitted a Toyota-type e-brake lever to a Jeep, under the dash? Also, is there a way to use something like a BMX-bike brake lever in addition to the stock e-brake mechanism?

Thanks for any help.

I got big feet....heel toe is working for me right now. I have only been in one or two instances where I could have really used a hand throttle......so if you have to do something go for the hand throttle.

lol. I've got 12's myself, but thought it was kinda awkward and difficult to control smoothly. Maybe I just need practice.

Line lock should only hold the amount of pressure you apply to the brakes. So if you apply light pressure to the brakes, push the button, then breaking force should remain where you push the pedal to. I could be wrong though, i currently have 2 biondo line locks waiting to be installed on my EB.

I have a hand throttle and use it very frequently. It eliminates all that foot bounce that I would get when I hit really rough sections of a trail. It is a really easy mod to do, you should just try it. If you do not like it, take it out. You won't be out much. I built mine with some old mountain bike gear.

None of the above.

Pratice, if your climbing and it's in low, why do you need to hit the gas?

Just ease out the clutch and let it idle. This is how you Don't break axles;)

Once in a while I may have to stop to pick a new line or remove a mountain biker from my wheel well.

Ease out the clutch on a 45-degree angle? --Maybe if I buy myself an Atlas or a Terralow for Christmas...;)

When I had a clutch that was geared too high I just got really good at the three pedal thing. I think it's easier than the hand throttle (I used to have one of those too).
