Sorry Steve - you and I were both thinking the same thing at the same time. I just happened to be reading the 1st & second post a few minutes ago. I didn't mean to sound impatient. 3:00, got it :D

I can cover chili for that number but ask for help with sides....
Who will volunteer a side, ready to eat within a short amount of time, when most arrive..?

beans would be good. or crackers, or fritos, or , or ,or ,

Headcount has been finalized (post #1). I'm sure we can bring something. Allow me to consult the wife to see what she thinks would be best. It'd be great if we could have a few more people chip in on this potluck the first night.

Plans for Thursday have been finalized (see post #1). I added extra travel time in that we're sure to have with 12 rigs. I'm assuming all our rigs can go 70 mph on the freeway and that they can go at least 100 miles in between fuel stops.

With 25 people camping, we're going to need more firewood than I anticipated. I need everyone to bring 2 bundles of firewood (the ones from 7-11 will be fine)

Man, it's starting to become "real." My wife and I just finished doing our little planning session for the week so we can be prepared. I just ordered my CB & mag antenna so I'll have some projects to do before Thurs. We've also been planning to bring firewood. Also, thumbs-up on the weather - it's going to be beautiful!

My wife said she will make some home made cookies.

All,

I'm going to have to withdraw my offer of cooking chili for the crowd on the first night. Given how the headcount has grown it would take at least a triple batch of chili, a couple hours to cook, and I'd have to bring along a pot the size of a mini cooper and a much bigger stove to cook on. This, coupled with the late arrival of most folks, has compelled me to save the chili for some other trip when the group is a little smaller or the trail a little friendlier to a jeep overstuffed with cooking gear.

At least with my early arrival I can scout out the proposed camp site to make sure its suitable for 12 rigs and 25 people as well as have the fire going when you arrive.

hey any way to squeeze in two more capable rigs with 3-4 people?

We're pretty full. It's going to take us forever to get through the trail. What's your wheeling experience? I can put you on the waiting list in case someone drops out. It's not an issue of exclusivity, it's an issue of the BLM requiring permits for "events." And generally a group over 25 is considered an "event" that requires permits and insurance and all that stuff.

I think that's fair. That's a LOT of people to cook for, and you're right about the pots/pans situation. Of course, we were going to miss the chili anyway, so I can't be too bummed about it :D

Behind the Rocks, Elephant Hill (87), Flat Iron Mesa, Hell's Revenge, Kane Creek Canyon, Poison Spider Mesa, Seven Mile Rim, Steel Bender, Hole in the Rock (86). West Rim and one other trail at Sand Hollow (cant remeber the name), all the trails in American Fork Canyon, Rattle Snake and Constricter. Done most at night. Its hard to judge yourself but I think i can hold my own. Duane has done all of these plus some. We perfer trails rated 5 to 7 Moab scale. I drive a 98 TJ with a 6" long arm lift locked front and rear, 35" tires, have a winch and recovery stuff and Duane has a 94 WJ. with an 8" long arm lift locked and 33" tires. I'm a member of
U4WDA. We are both very capable drivers.

sweet, sounds like it should be no problem for you.

I'll put you on the waiting list in case someone drops out. It's not an issue of exclusivity, it's an issue of the BLM requiring permits for "events." And generally a group over 25 is considered an "event" that requires permits and insurance and all that stuff. So we have to keep it under 25 people. Sorry about that, I didn't think we'd end up getting a group this big. I look forward to wheeling with you guys soon, I prefer 5-7 rated trails as well. If this trip doesn't work out, we'll do another one soon. I'm hoping to go to the swell again before it gets too hot.
