Hole in the Rock

I'm starting to think about a family 4x4/ATV trip to Hole in the Rock next fall. Does anyone know where I can find info like mileage, trail rating, and anything else useful. Thanks! :D

Under the trails current conditions, what rig requirements would be needed?

Locked v open? Tire size?

(alright, do you think it is a decent choice for my open Montero Sport, currently on 32s, probably have 33s soon?)

If you want the GPX file with all the waypoints for all the obstacles and campsites let me know. I possibly have the most extensive one out there. It has both routes on it as well.

As for rig, we just took a Montero on it noly he had a rear locker but I don't believe he used it once.

Yes, please.

What would the weather be like the fist week of may? The last week of august would probably about kill a guy wouldn't it?

I think that May would be perfect out there. August I would guess would be pretty warm, but still doable. Depends on how hot you like it ;)

Aug would, in my opinion, be the wrong time. We go to Lake Powell the first week of August every year. Not being fancy folks, we tent cam- no house boat.

It is HOT. An 'average' year for that week will have highs 100-105. We have had some years with 112-115 every day. Although this year was very pleasant with low-to-mid 90s.

Those temps aren't bad when you can jump in the lake when every you feel like it.

Glad to hear from those who have done the trail that Monty is a good choice. Have been talking about a trip with a couple of friends, so will have to pursue it further.
