Colorado Holy Cross in August

I know this isn't really an option for most here, but I'm going to plan a trip to run Holy Cross trail in the Colorado mountains in August. May have a local friend that could lead/join, so dates are TBD.

Holy Cross is near Minturn, CO... about 2.5 hrs East of Grand Junction. The last bit of trail is VERY challenging, so I'll be in the TJ ready to party. 🤘

Anyone else interested in joining? It'll be on a weekend, probably a Saturday.

Thread from last year, but I recently heard a local talking about Holy Cross and how the trail probably won't be around in a couple more years. There is serious talks about building a dam in the area and Holy Cross will end up underwater.

I'd really like to get up there soon, maybe in August? Camp up there the night before, run the trail and enjoy Holy Cross while it still exists.

Damnit I need to get my junk back together!

It's rad, high altitude mountain trail that gets pretty gnarly towards the end!
I just watched a YouTube video of it. Looks plenty doable for a decently equipped vehicle. That last obstacle has a decent price for failure. But from what it sounds like from the video, that obstacle is beyond the town site.

Yeah, once you cross French Creek the boulders get massive and now you've got wet tires... I definitely want to run the full trail, hence bringing the TJ and not the Gladiator. A local buddy wants to camp and fish at the lake past the end of the trail. I don't know about camping, but fishing way up there sounds fun.
