I need to get some louvres put in my hood and I have noticed that a few people have done this, where do you get it done at? How much did it cost you? I am soo tired of my Jeep overheating!

Before you go to the trouble of putting in louvres try lifting the back of your hood up so that there is a gap for hot air to escape out the back. I tried this on my one ton tow rig that has a tendency to run hot when I tow my boat in the summer. It helped my rig quite a bit and even lowered the in cab temperature. Now when I repaint it I am going with a hood with a built in vent. I just didn't want to spend the money if it wasn't going to help.

I can't remember what radiator you had but, is it up to the task off cooling your 4.3?

I have the Novak Adapters 3 core Chevy 350 radiator. They don't have them now that they switched to the aluminum "floating" radiators.

The beast is a 4.3 Vortec.

I am pretty sure it has a bubble in the system and I need the radiator flushed but it still get's REALLY hot under the hood under normal circumstances.

I looked at that link, looks like what I am going to do! That is a great idea. I was thinking about checking the salvage yards for cars with louvers.

I am not so sure this will work with the YJ. The hood is fitted all the way around the motor bay and it might bend it to put the back higher. I am moslty worried about the surface of the tub and hood at the back hinges.

You could temporarily put spacers between the tub and the hinges which would lift the back up without damaging anything. Just use longer bolts to hook the hinges back up, then if it helps go get some louvres or a hood with a rear vent and take the spacers out.
