I've seen a couple posts that are leading me to believe.......

Got plans for some sort of hot rod???

I know a guy who knows a guy with a couple Hemi's, bout I doubt you really want to mortage your house for an engine. I can probably get you a baby Hemi, but I'll have to see if he still has it sitting there.

Have you considered a 409 Chev? That's my dream engine!

I'm looking for a older V8 that runs good, as well as an auto tranny with the engine. Both need to be in running condition with no issues.

I'd love to find a big block of some sort... Chevy, Ford or even a 426 Hemi. Will consider a Small Block Chevy.

Yep... I picked up a '23-25 Model T body & I'm trying to gather parts. :D

I figured a 426 would be near impossible to find, but it's one bad-ass motor... the ideal hot rod engine. I'd be intrested in a baby Hemi, depending on the price. I want to try build it on the cheap though, so that limits options.

I haven't considered a 409, they're extremely rare arent they?

oh, schweet!!!!!!!!

One word....... Flathead!

I've been into cars forever, so I have some decent contacts here in SLC. I had untill recently a 40 Willy's. I'm getting old and decided I wouuld never finish it since it's been sitting in the same spot for 30 years now. Sold it, took the cash and bought the LJ.

The next door neighbor has a 25 Dodge that he knows He'll never do a thing with. The bare spot in the backyard will soon be covered in Dodge parts I think.

A Flathead would be way cool, but a decent one is so hard to come by! Plus, the cost of a compete one in running/rebuildable condition is probably more than I want to spend. All that & I don't know much about them. I'll probably end up with a SBC, but I figured I'd try to find something a little diffrent first.

That's too bad about the Willys, they're neat cars. I met a guy when I was working at Super Shop that had a Willys that was so badass! Chopped & lowered to the ground and had a 426 with an 8-71 blower on it to push it around!

I'd like to see the Dodge, sounds neat!

The Dodge looks eactly like the Ford two door coupe. Only real difference is the front fenders follow the contour of the the the front tires, if that makes any sense. Front fenders are rounded down, but still swoop back to the running board without the big gaping hole.

Hah! Nah, there's enough of those already. I started the blog to have a dedicated page for the build progress, it's a lot easier to manage than a forum is. ;)

Never thought about it but Greg....... Street machine thread maybe? could be pretty cool, and it's all gear head related.

I can split these posts & start a new chit-chat thread, so as to not hijack my want ad. Good idea, I know there's a few more closet hotrodders on here. ;)

And what's happening with the 440? :D

Not sure as of right now he is just "Talking" about it but I believe that the 440 is running him 11's or 12's in the quarter mile right now. Well last he raced it anyway. Street legal too. (minus the sending my dad papers down in Iron county to get away from emissions testing) LOL

There is also my cousins 1940 coupe (cadillac I think) sitting on the side of my brothers house.

I don't know that there's a (stock) motor that rivals a 500 caddy, they make ton's of power right where you need it. I've got a 426 caddy.

I'd go BBC oval port either 396 or 402 little snappier then the 454 with the shorther stroke or Ton's more common then a 409 (even tho- a 409 is sweet) They're easy and relatively inexpensive to build. and of course there is nothing like an iron lung on a hotrod.

trans either 700r or 4l60 something with an overdrive so you can go down the highway.

another alternative would be see if you can find a ls6 motor from a new GTO and a 6 speed, they're lightweight and sweet, I've seen them as low as 6000 complete with a harness and ecu. 425 ponies from a small block! factory.

Wow... must be a well built motor! Too much engine for me. ;)
