I got a ticket down there when i lived there a while back for having 4 people in the front seat of my truck. Also got a seat belt ticket because we were all wearing our seatbelts, but there obviously wasnt one for the 4th person. Cop said i should of had the 4th person in the back of the truck.

If there all as anal as this cop was then your screwed.

Why can't you put flares on it and have it be 'street legal'? Maybe make the 'quick release' so when you go off-road you can take them off?

I got pulled over down there about a month and a half ago in my Cruiser for exactly that reason- full width axles, with no flaps or flares. The cop was actually totally cool to me though. He just mentioned that at some point, I should really try to comply with the laws at least a little bit, and sent me on my way with just a verbal warning, and complimented me on my truck, too.

Could be worse I guess!

my rear fenders are the ones in question.. the springs are flipped for more WB, but now the wheel well is double the stock size... unless i cut up a 50 gallon drum  and use that, pretty much nothing will work

I would love to see the 55 gallon drum sticking 8" out the sides of your rig!! DO IT and post pics!! Make them quick disconnect with wing nuts or something.

Depending how big your tires are, you could add a little sheet metal where there wasn't any originally since that space is just a gap. I have seen people fill the section behind the doors and then use after market Cruiser or TJ fender flares.

I'll have almost the same problem with my YJ (using reversed rear XJ springs on a 'competion cut' YJ tub). I'm going to use a combination of ext. TJ flares and a mud flap to fill in the back spaces. It'll look a little on the 'dumb' side, but street legal :D.

You're lucky then. And you are REALLY lucky to move down to St. George. Hopefully I can find a job there when I get done. It's getting a little too big and housing proces are INSANE, but for the stuff I like to do, the St. George area is the best EVER. Plus its where I grew up...
