I heard if you run two head gaskets it gives it serious balls  (inside joke:D, I know, almost as much as running the dist. 180* off:D)

LC Engineering can build you a Turbo'd 22RE I believe up to 500 hp.
Be prepared for sticker shock...

I'd probably start with a Cam shaft, better intake, and an exhaust manifold.

Bassically you can go as crazy as you want, if you have the cash. For a reasonable price, expect no more than 200 hp. You could always just get a LC supercharger for it, im sure that would wake it up.

As for what i did, i almost consider a Cam to be manditory, it sure seemed to wake mine up, although i rebuilt the carb, put a better ignition on it (robbed coil from a supra, new cap, 9mm wires, and NGK plugs), and went to a 2.25" exhaust at the same time. I was happy with that, it sure moved compared to my 6.2 diesel K5.

I've heard mixed reviews on cams for RE's. Seems like you can't change too much without the computer compensating for the change, and negating the power gains you're going for.

Whether that's true or not, a ported head and exhaust will be good additions no matter what.

first off i love my toy and would not change the 22re for anything mpg is great power is good (for a 4 poper) and its reliable 207000+ miles. now if you want power rip out the 22r and put in a 350 or supra six dont even bother with the 22r u will never get what u want out of it. if u are set on the 22r cam, header/exahst, intake, lc dule roller timming chain & guides, and an aftermarket ignition is the way to go. oh and if u put bigger tires/lift dont forget to do gears that will help more than u know.

i'm sure a lot of us think about this all of the time, the supra 6 is 200 hp stock, and the swap is not supposed to be too tough!

some guys are getting 600-700 hp even though i would never want that much myself
