Besides which... I've found people tend to park a little further away from me if my car is super muddy.... about time too-- I swear I find a new ding in my door every time I wash it

Em, just paint over the mud, its like cheap bondo. Just scrape off the high spots leaving the mud in the dents then apply the paint.
