How do you shorten a link to another thread?

This may not be in the correct area, but I have a question.

When posting a link, how do you rename it to what you want?

ie. rather than http://www.rockymountainextreme.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=12, how could it be just the word here like the non-Newbies do?

By the way, I am a computer retard, so I will need my hand held while you explain.
