How to use lockers properly

thats funny right there i am running grizzley lockers front and rear and they lock and unlock whenever they want....I love them so far

Running a Locker:
1. If you are spinning a tire and can't make it, lock it.
2. If you think you might spin a tire and not make it, lock it.
3. If there is no wheelspin or potential for wheelspin, leave it unlocked, or unlock it.

Its really not that hard.

I used to follow the old advice of "keep it unlocked, then once you get stuck, lock it and you can get out and go home." But it has only worked about twice out of the seven or eight times I've been stuck. I would have been better served in most cases keeping it locked to keep from getting stuck in the first place. Lockers help keep your momentum and prevent you from digging in right away. But keep in mind that isn't always going to work, and don't get false confidence with lockers that you will be able to get unstuck from anything. Lockers do nothing for you if you are buried up to your frame.

I like to run open all the time and just lock if I'm having trouble with an obstacle. Like many others here.

My only experience with lockers is back on the farm... :handlebars::handlebars::handlebars: There was a petal on the floor that you could step on that locked the axles when you got stuck the rest of the time the axles were open.

If you have a selectable locker I say leave it unlocked until needed. I've seen parts break (mostly older dana 30's) where there was a locker in the front and they turned too sharp on an otherwise non-obstacle and broke one of the U-joints in the front.
