How Wide will I be???

So I am building a buggy. I have a set of 1 ton axles off a chevy. 60/14 bolt. I am going to run 40" wide tires. How wide will I be with tires? I am looking at a trailer that is 82" wide am afraid I will be having tires barely hanging on. I could build out sides to make the deck wider if needed but would prefer not.

Thanks

Google the WMS of a Dana 60, figure in your rim specs, and tire width and you should be preeettty close.. but 40" wide tires are just.. super redneck. :D

With those tires, I'd probably buy a 16' car hauler, cut the spring mounts and turn the axles so the are parallel with the long side of the trailer. Then all you've got to do it weld up another tongue somehow. ;)

damn 40 inch wide tires... so just the tires are 80 inches combined... and the 14bolt which is what 16 inches wide so now your looking at 96 inches and what about brakes and shafts...
go to the truck stop and get a oversize load sign!

My trailer is 83ish wide and I rub the inside of the fenders when I pull on and off I am on full widths with 42-15.5--17s

Well your front axle wms is 69.5 and your rear 14bolt ff depending on the year is 65 to 67 wms, and assuming you have a wheel that has about 3.5 inch backspacing, ten inch wide rim, a 13.50 wide tire, which are assumtions, youd be looking at about 80 inches wide, so yes a 82 would fit but it would barley fit your rig. If your wheels have less back spacing then your screwed as far as using a 82 inch wide trailer or if your tires are wider and so on. So a little more info would help

I've got a Chev 60 front axle, 38 x 14.50 Kevlar MTRs on H2 wheels and just rub the trailer fenders when I'm putting it on. Was the same with the 40" 13.50 MTR Kevlars I had before.

A lot of guys will build drive over fenders if they are wider. Shouldn't be rocket science to do that if you're building your own rig.

OK thanks all I got the answer I needed. It will be just right. The fender are drive overs, but the deck width is 82" all the way. wanted to make sure the vast majority of my tire would be sitting on the trailer and not hanging off.
