I need to come up with a 3.00 gear for my Buick with the 9". There's a bit of torque hitting that but probably not as much as I think with a T400 in 1st gear and that's the only reduction. Transfer case would add a lot of torque on top of that.

A stock 28 spline pinion would hold up all day long in your hot rod. Yukon makes a 3.00 gear for the 9"

It is 28 spline. I've been watching (casually) for a drop out for a while. I'll get serious about it when the "Jeep" is remodeled
