The same product add for two different countries?

I have to analyze how a product is marketed differently using localization for two different markets. I honestly don't know where to start.

Look at car adds from around the globe. Note how they market to the demographics of people in that market. Example: Mercedes are taxi cabs in Europe and luxury cars here. Land Cruisers in the US vs Middle East. Japan has laws about being able to buy a car (you have to prove you have a place to park it off the streets).

Look for things like mileage, speed, utility, Green Effect, lifestyle, income, climate, laws, etc...

Just some thoughts.

You could even use fast food.

Compare here to say china. I bet our stuff is marketed with bigger portions, maybe there's are smaller and more healthy?

That should be pretty easy, google chinese mcdonalds.

Although if it's for class, I'm sure 99% of the class will use my idea. So you might be better of with that aus. toyota commercial.

how similar do the products need to be? I am guessing that toilet paper in the US is marketed all sorts of ways (fluffy, bouncy, soft, cushin, woven, quilted, scented, etc) and in small countries there is one option.

Or do you need to compare quilted northern to quilted northern?

You could probably do it the old fashioned way and try contacting the advertising departments of a couple companies. They're usually pretty helpful to students.

Otherwise, try MSN homepages. msn.ca, msn.ru, msn. whatever. google MSN "japan" and they have a page, then see if there are some ads flashing on the front page that are for the same product but different market.
