when my army reserve unit when on active duty to train soldiers going off to Iraq and afganistan we also had to take classes on this subject cause one of our additional duties was casuality notification... and a few of us actually had to go perform this job.... I didn't have to but from the stories from the ones that did it was not a thing you wanted to do...

one guy told me about having to go tell a 18 yr old that her husband of 3 months was dead... when he got there she was living with her parents and the min he got out of the car the parents know what was going on but she was totally clueless... lets just say it wasn;t something you should ever have to do but years later if you get a chance to talk to the people that you had to notify they invite you in as like you are part of their family, cause you shared something very personal with them.

As I sat and read the article, my wife came up to ask what I was reading. I told and showed her the picture.

She is a 8th grade teacher and often deals with kids who are too cool to stand for the pledge and national anthem. During the conversation she mentioned that this is going to be required reading as to why we stand for the anthem and the pledge.
