On a 2-5 "Moab" scale, how would you rate the following trails?

1. Mineral Basin Trail (from Poleline Pass intersection to the canyons head, including the Rockgarden)

2. Miller Hill (from the Pacific Mine tailings to the top)

3. Mary Ellen Gulch Trail (from Dutchman Flat to the canyons head)

4. Forest Lake Trail (from river crossing to lake)

5. Milkmaid Trail (from Silver Flat Res. to mine)

My thinking...

1. 3.5
2. 3
3. 3
4. 3.5
5. 3

I think Forest Lake is more 3 rating.

Last year I would agree but this year maybe the 3.5 is closer.

Here is why I say that,

Last year, I took the CTD to lake with no worries, hence a 3 trail.

This year with the run off, I ran it with the scrambler and while it had no worries either, there was plenty of potential to re arrange some sheet metal on stock or stock-like rig.

just my .02

I'd say #2 & 3 are 2.5

Forrest Lake is the hardest between 1 thru 4 anyway. I haven't been on 5.

x2

forrest lake is 3- 3 1/2 depends, i think with the travel this time of the year it is getting easier, but first of spring it tends to be a little more difficult, only seen it 2 seasons though..

I wouldn't say I'd disagree with the way you rated the trails but, my Cherokee has the budget boost lift (2") and I've made it up Forrest Lake plenty of times with no problems. However, I was wheelin' up a dried up stream bed of sorts (not sure of the actual name of the trail but but up by the mines) and I got stuck because of my lack of clearance. The point being, I found Forrest Lake to be easier than the other trail. Just my $.02.

Forest Lake 3

Mineral Basin 3.5 (depends on month, early summer is more difficult than late because all the rocks get moved.).

Mary Ellen 2.5

Let's have poll!

Compared to a Moab rating, a 3.5 is the max a stock vehicle can pass without damage, with fully expecting to drag front, rear, or center. If we are following the Moab scale, I would agree on all of the ratings Kurt has given, including Forest Lake being a 3.5. I wouldn't take just anything up Forest Lake like I used to, dragging friends in stock Explorers, Rodeos, etc. up there was no problem, now it is a bit of a challenge...
