Hydro assist?

I was told it would cost $100 to port my toyota IFS box at RL.

I'm still debating on ether selling my Samurai or putting Hydro on and, some type of tube front clip.

BTW I also have a full spool in the front axle and even on the slickrock I have little to no trouble turning. I hade the advantage of living in Moab when I made this mod and could compare the before and after steering on Hells revenge. Let me just say that wheeling in moab is much more enjoyable for me now because it is alot less work.
Dan

This is what I've been looking for. I have a spool in the front and can't turn on pavement. So moab would be out of the question. But this helps me know with Hydro assist it will.

It was a while ago... so just like everything else... it now costs more I guess.
But, they did a great job, it was fast, and unlike alot of other shops, don't make you feel like an idiot.

If I go this route then I'll be going to RL to atleast have the box ported. Just not looking forward to taking the box off.

You are using a toyota box?? Should just be the 3 bolts on the frame, the little clamp thingy where the steering shaft goes into it and then the draglink. It has never been that big of deal on mine to take it off.

Will I have to worry about a panhard bar in the front with leaf springs. On PBB they said it would just push my axle back and forth.

Total bs. It'll work fine without a panhard. Everybodys an expert on the net. ;) If I had more time I'd port it for ya for free.

Well find the time. :D

So I finally got the cash to atleast get the kit from ether RL or Trail Gear. So as soon as I can deside if I'm keeping it i'll get the kit or have RL do it for me. Just hard to pay someone $250 to install it for me if it's easy to put in myself. I could get the kit for ether $200 Trail Gear or $250 RL. Have RL port the box for me $100, then it's only $300-$350ish if I do it myself. Instead of $595 to have RL do it all for me.

psh, don't sell it... you'll regret it later, and you won't get the $ out of it that you think it's worth anyway

VERY VERY true. Just tired of messing with it and, still having problems then throwing more $$$ at it. If I could get the hydro on then get some type of tube front clip it would be fine. Will see. :(

Still desiding. But most likley i'll be putting hydro on soon. IF I do the install myself i'm getting the Trail-Gear hydro kit then take my box to RL to get ported. That would make it $199 for the hydro kit then $100 for the box to be ported.

If your going full hydro. I wouldn't drive it on the road! (Not sure if you trailer to trails or not) Also, to get a decent kit and all the right stuff, installed your probably looking at closer to 600.00 give or take depending on the shop and or the buddy hookup.. If your not comfy installing it, believe me it's worth the $$ to have someone who knows what there doing take care of it! If nothing else for peace of mind! Less issues that way for you to deal with.

Just my .02 cents :D

Good Luck!

Just some links for you to check out! You already know about RL.
Just in case you wanted to check them out, all of these companies are on the top of my list for Zuki schwag! But def. read the Pirate link, very informative, at least to me it was!

So it looks like I'm keeping it. Now I have to deside if i'm going to do it myself or have RL do it for me. Sounds like it's not that hard to do yourself. I'd have the box ported at RL then get there kit. I've heard some not so good things about the Trail Gear kit and, i've heard some pretty good stuff about the RL kit.
