I guess I have a problem.

Definitely! It was a free camper, and it's pretty good shape for a free camper--but it's certainly not what you'd call "nice". ;)

I do want a newer/nicer camper in a bad way, but there are plenty of other, higher-priority places my money goes--and I refuse to go into debt for one. One day.......

And that is why I am working on an old tent trailer. Do reason to go into debt when folks are all but giving things away...

And this step, is reason enough for me to go buy some steel and get back to the trailer...

Nice work. Love the attention to detail. And if you ever get a nicer/newer camper, that will still be the envy of everyone around you...

I think it is because you just have too much free time now. But why not make a second step so you don't have to use the cheesy plastic step also?

Because.

Where were you with your snazzy ideas BEFORE I started on it? -_-

Besides, I don't have any more of the same scrap tubing left, I used it all on the one step. :-\

I was inspired to build a step of my own. Thanks! :)

I just completed a spring-over on my trailer, which left it's step ~16 inches tall. That's a bit much, especially since I've got young kids, so I whipped up a little 8 inch stool with dimensions that match the existing trailer step. It's made out of some chainlink fence top rail, that I've had sitting around since removing said chanlink fence.

I have plenty more of this stuff, if you want to build another step, Carl. ;)

Note the properly-oriented dimples. :p

Nice, but it doesn't match the trailers step. :D

Kids are dumb when it comes to standing on unmounted steps. I forsee a faceplant to dimpled step thread coming up. Maybe some hinged straps to the existing step to keep the stool from flipping over under force?

You can't see it in either of the pictures I posted, but the legs are angled out to the front and back of the step. It would be difficult to tip it over. ;)

That is some tricky photography. :D

I like the step. It's clean, functional, and DIY. There is nothing that it needs, and nothing extraneous on it. I like it.
