I learned something last night.

Usually when I've adjusted control arm lengths or pinion angles I've used a lift and unbolted everything then banged and muscled it back into place. The hardest part for me is to get the axle twisted back to the right angle to where everything will fit.
ast night when Redrock5.9 and I were adjusting his arms to fit his tires I found an easy way to do it. You don't have to lift the vehicle at all, just leave it on the ground. Disconnect the upper or lower arms, whichever you want to work on. Adjust them to the length you want. So normally this would be the hard part trying to get them to line up.
What we found out that made things easy is that you can leave it on the ground with the parking brake on (or regular brakes if you're working on the front). Then push it forward or back and that will rotate the axle pivoting on whatever arms are left connected. It's a whole lot easier that way, you don't have to jack it up so you don't have to worry about jack stands or wrenching the axle around to get it to fit.
Anyway, I just wanted to share what I found.

Yup, that was a novel idea. I thought we were screwed when the axle flopped the pinion down but the parking brake trick did the job. BTW, pics of the 'niner on longarms and 35s coming soon.
