I miss having a truck...

Greg,

If you are thinking about getting a T100 I would be happy to let you try mine out for a day/weekend. I am able to fit sheetrock or plywood between the wheel humps and put overload springs on to haul wood pellets or landscaping supplies. I have loaded it down heavily for hunting/camping/overlanding trips and have done Black Bear Pass several times much to the amazement of the out of state tourists who would only think of taking Jeeps on that trail. I am thinking of regearing to help pull my trailer faster over the mountain passes but the gas mileage I am getting when not towing is hard to beat.

Kevin

I appreciate it Kevin, I'm not in too much of a hurry, but if our paths cross I'd love to look your truck over.

I dig that, really... it's amazing! An S10 extended cab might end up being a bid small for my needs. My brother had and S10 that was the same body style. It was a bit tight for me, to be honest.

I think if I were going that far with a build, (SAS, engine/trans/t-case swap, axles, etc) I would spring for a 4 door Dakota and build from there.

I miss having a truck too

Sorry man, hope you get it and your stuff back. :(

I just had a thought as well. I think Chevy makes their Colorado and GMC makes their Canyon with the LS series of engines. It may have to be a 2wd but, if you are really wanting to do a solid axle anyways this might be the way to go. It would be less money for the truck to start off with. Another thought, have you looked into what it may cost to purchase exactly what you want and have it shipped here? That maybe cheaper than building what you want and it would be so much easier.

I do like the Dakota idea (since I am a Dodge fella) and that may be the best idea yet.

Here you go! (F350 towards the bottom) Build up something like this one! http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/18794-Lets-see-some-full-size-pictures.../page94

Just imagine winter camping while all your buddies are freezing in their silly RTT's listening to the wind whip all night wondering if they even dare step out to potty or if they should just hold it all night--meanwhile you're nice and warm (almost hot) cooking popcorn getting ready to sit down to a nice movie--better grab a cold one out of the fridge hahaha! If that doesn't sell you nothing will :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Other than the camper its not too much bigger an 80 series...... is it?!

I've seen the newer GM S-trucks and that they have the option of the V8... but they're pricey, way too much for what I want to do.

I dig the Dakota too, I think it's one of the better ideas, but still a huge project.

I dig it... a diesel extended cab F250 with a Dana 60, 37's and a camper in the back would be NICE! It would end up being a big, heavy truck but probably the simplest to "build". Diesel power, decent reliability.... I could dig it!

What about a 4 door 05 Tacoma? Put a diesel in it if you feel the need.

My thing is that I'd have a hard time spending that much money on a 'play vehicle' up front. The funny thing is that I can justify building something, just not spending a big wad of cash off the bat.

I dig the newer Tacoma's and a 4 door would be perfect. The factory reliability would be nice too.
