I went wheeling today!

It's been a busy summer trying to get a house built, having everything in storage, and trying to keep up with a new kid, so I haven't been wheeling since Spring. Today I managed to get a few hours and went exploring around Stansbury Island in the TJ. Even took the boy out for his first time. He loved it. The bumpier it got the more he slept, but slow steep stuff makes him giggle! I had more fun in my mostly stock TJ today than I've had in the buggy in the last year! :D Just thought I'd share. Even took a pic with my phone.

I wondered if you'd be available. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. I didn't even really know where I was going until I got there. Next time. Is your schedule consistent now? What is it?

was the gate open that goes out to the other islands (and to Mag Corp)? Looks like fun, always good to get out and have a good time

Is that the big yellow gate with the no trespassing sign? Yup, it was open. A little further down the road a sign explains that the road is open but on both sides of the road (and all sideroads) are trespassing. I didn't pursue it too far because what I was interested in was not the main road. How far is the private property? Can you get to the other side of it and then get up onto the mountains? I need a map...

actually about 95% of that island is private property. It's owned by Morton Salt, the Bleazard's, Mag Corp, BLM, and few other small entities. Most of them don't really care too much usually but the Bleazard's are complete jackasses about it. They tried suing our company many times, they also tried to lock that gate when we were supposed to have access to it. We'd just cut their locks :p (with the sheriff present usually). There are actually several "Jeep" trails on the north side of the island. I didn't get much time to explore, nor did I feel like fighting with John Bleazard about if I had a right to be there so I didn't venture up them at all. There actually are some trails in the mountains to the west of Mag Corp that I have always thought would be awesome to explore. That land is mostly all owned by the church and BLM. I'll see if any of my pics show any of the trails in either location.

EDIT:
It is public property up and over along the peaks of the island, but there is no real access without crossing private land ;)

Wipe the dust off that TJ of yours and show me around sometime next week! I know a couple other kids around here that have mild rigs too. :)

Well, I'm putting a lift on tomorrow if I find a few hours. I will need to get tires, but that's no biggie, hmmm...when are ya thinking?

I've got next Tuesday through the following Wednesday off. We may or may not be out of town for some of that time.

Any idea where I can find out exactly where the sensetive property is and is not?

That's the tricky part, I'm sure you could get the info from the the Tooele County offices but the Bleazard's think they own it all. Even though that road has been ordered a public road the Bleazard's will still harass and threaten you if they catch you on it. I'm willing to bet that sign you read was put up by them to deter people from driving that road. If you search Bleazard and Stansbury Island in google you'll find a bunch of articles about this whole fight. It's been going on for nearly 15 years ever since Tooele county "abandoned" that road.

I'll see what I can fit in my schedule. I've been working two positions at work until we are able to fill my current position (I've been doing 16-17 hour days :( and some weekend work, I've never worked a weekend yet at this company till now:sick: )

No worry. It'll still be there next month or year or whatever. I've got plenty of other places I want to explore. :)
