Well I assumed it was a 9", but with some discussion and searching, it may not be. I pulled the inspection cover and it does have a locker in it, similar to a detroit, but it has the inspection cover, and is quite narrow.

Heres what I know to date:

8 lug

locked

65" WMS

52" between brake backing plates

40" spring perch

looks like a pre 1963 eaton or rockwell off a 1.0-2.5 ton chevy - could also be from a larger industrial toyota, I didn't see the removable backing plate on the back, probabbly not the rockwell or eaton.

Eaton.... story i heard says that GM and Ford both bought the patent rights from the same designer, hence the similiarities between the two.

I don't know a lot, but I remember reading a post by the ARB rep that said that he was looking for someone running an eaton to test the new 14bolt ARB. He made it sound like the 14 bolt carrier was interchangeable with the Eaton.

The third picture you posted looks alot like my 14 bolt, maybe the hubs are the same too???

I remember that some of the TTC trucks of the 69-72 trucks swapped from the factory detroit to a macnamara locker or something like that, that was available for those rear ends.

The eaton is basically a pre 14 bolt FF. It uses I belive a 10 1/2" ring gear with the same hubs as a 14 and the axle shafts are also interchangable. I think. They are pretty much as good as a 14, but better ground clearance. The reason they aren't as popular as the 14 is becasue after 72 they were replaced by the 14 which is still being produced today. There isn't nearly as many after market parts for the Eaton as the 14, but a lot of 14 parts can be swapped in to an Eaton case.
