the two places I am willing to bt its leaking are the valve cover if its still the factory plastic (or thin steel) one and the rear main seal...if you haven't already, replace the valve cover with a nice aluminum one and that will solve that issue, the rear main always seems to leak...my bro had his replaced several times (by different people each time) and it would stop but start right back up after onlt a few months...

that rear main seal is a special Jeep feature, self-lubricates the trans and t-case. And the front Ujoint on the driveshaft.

no, seriously, that's a tough one to keep sealed. The valve cover is as stated. To seal the factory one requires a black art that has been lost to the ages. I recommend Ebaying a metal one, or maybe someone's got one here.

after that I'd 4" lift it and cruise. Actually, I'd probably hack it to hell but you get my point.

yeah, with the valve cover, if its surely not leaking then dont touch it, dont breath on it dont even think about it...cause as soon as you do its gonna start leaking :D

in fact, dont' let it know you read that stuff, either or it will crack.. in 2 places and leak onto the header.

Other than that Jeeps go forever. I just tore a runner apart and it has huge grooves in the cylinders... and got the best mileage of any Jeep i've owned. My theory is that it turned into a sort of super low compression diesel and just ran and ran.

Jeeps rock. uh, back to topic yeah, fuel injection is good. V8's are good too! Some are actually lighter than the 258.

Maybe it's not leaking but instead marking it's territory.Fuel injection would rock and huge tires

Seems like you already have all the advice I would give you as well. I can tell you with your build up, do not bother going too tall. You do not flex with a CJ7, you get lockers instead. Then you trim the fenders to fit the tires you want.

I have a 3" lift on my 84 cj 7 and I figure on putting 35's under it with a little creative cutting, I hear you can fit that tire with that lift and TJ fender flares, so... Then you jeep the nice low low center of gravity that cj's have, with out comprimising on the ability.

Cheers!

Half of that was probably frame flex....... :greg

The CJ wont flex the best, even with the best of springs, but with lockers it'll be an awsome trail rig. Might want to consider a 1" body lift, and keep the shackles up front to keep the trimming to a minimum.

my M725, fullsize Cherokee, and former J20 all flexed well on SUA's. IT"S THE SPRING RATE! heheh

If I'm not mistaken, I'm prety sure it was me that said that. :D

And, just to make it perfectly clear, I'll say it again. Sprung under CJ's don't flex. The springs are just too short, and the more you lift them the less they flex.

But, I think flex is also way overated too. For a street-able trail rig, you have to compromise flex and handling.

thanks

thanks guys thats goin to help alot with that leak hey i has thinking bout putin in a v-8 into it but i was talkin to my bro and he said that would make the gas mileage go down the hole so i dont know it already has a 1inch body lift on it so yea but i was thinkin that i could do a spring over axle convertion but i was thinkin that it would make me have to do a bunch of stuff that i dont really want to do one other thing i want to take the body off and do like a rhino lining on the bottom would that be a good thing to do or would it be just a waste of time and money?
