just think of all the bug zappers running across the USA and we all know the giant pile of bugs that ends up on the ground after a good summer night. I am pretty sure that mother nature has an excess of bugs to make up for a few hundred million that get zapped every night.
It would be very targeted too so it would only kill mosquitos that want to eat on me instead of everything under the sun/moon. There is plenty of wildlife with blood out there that can supply the mosquitos so we don't need to worry about depopulation.
The one thing that does worry me is backdrop. Those blue ray lasers can light stuff on fire so they have to think about backdrop for these things...where does that concentrated beam of photons go when the machine misses...I bet the backdrop for one of those things would be a lightly singed waste, almost a brown shadow. They have a lot of development to do but it is an exciting prospect.
