Alright, well I spent this weekend friday through sunday working on lifting my truck. I got the ifs lift kit for cheap ($50) and decided to do that for now till I can afford the SAS. Anyway I am having trouble with my IFS 4wheeldrive. What is happening is, when my drivers side hub is engaged and the CV shaft is turning it will turn for half a turn the bind up where it contacts the differential housing. This causes the whole differential to lift up and down and some popping when it goes back down. The people at Ultimate High 4x4 in orem said you have to twist the differential (drivers side forward) in order to fix the problem. Well I tried this and no luck. Is there anyone that has lifted IFS before that could provide assistance. Thanks.

BTW thanks a whole lot to cryogenic or however you spell his name, Paul, for all the help he gave me. Got me off on the right foot. Thanks

Hmmm. I never had that issue on my old Trailmaster 4" a few years ago. how is the diff moving? All seems simple in theory, drop everything down 4" and all should be golden. I'll have to lok though my old IFS pics to clear up my muddy brain tonight.

Well, its only on the driver side that it binds up. I think a bearing or somthing is jamming. where the CV shaft goes into the differential housing is where it binds and that side goes up. I don't know what happened to it.
Jordan I have no clue if it will fit your truck. Why don't you try it?

Was the diffy apart for any reason? Did the drivers side tube get removed? There's a little clip that could have fallen in the diff maybe??? Just trying to narrow down some of it. If none of the above and it's mounted correctly, I have no clue really. Sounds like the diff itself is bound up somehow. Front locker??? Not much help here am I? Just typing what's in my head. :p

I'm thinking the CV's jacked. Maybe broken up inside. It's not a double cardan is it? If it's the cannister style CV you might want to check it out and see if there's broken parts inside. It's happened to me before. Rotates and binds real bad, terrible noise too.

Ok, today I was going to have someone I met off of wildyoats and my brake line broke. Scariest moment in my life. Anyway He looked at it and said it was probably mounted wrong so I will be messing around with that tonight. If that doesn't work I will let you know of anything else I find. Thanks

Hey Tim how did it go? Did you get that part mounted up yet? Once you do that it should all line up, and you shouldn't have any more binding. I saw you moved your truck later that night did you get your brake line fixed? Let me know.

Yah, thanks a lot for the help. I went to auto zone and bought 2 new 12" pieces with fittings for $4. And I replaced the broken line that night with my dad, and then I replaced the other side that hadn't broken yet but it did look like it had a little stress from letting it hang when I did the lift. Whats funny about the lift is I didn't even realize I had those mounts still on that other differential. :) Or I am just trying to make an excuse hehe. Anyway I did get it working and it works beautiful. I need longer rear shocks though. Not as much flex as I used to have :( I got my wheels in the air like 3' each while playing around at my friends house. Anyway heading to moab tommorow, and I will call you when I get back and we can maybe do a little bumper/slider fabbing
