I'm getting tired of working on cars...

I have been pretty lucky this year, camaro has an intermittent driveability problem, but it never leaves me stranded, and it wears front tires funny. But I dont see putting money into a $1200 car (what I paid for it).

Wifes truck has no issues, but still needs the solid axle done.

Crew cab is sitting in case something else breaks, or I get bored and want to drive it....hmm should take it to dinner.

toyota is another backup, but not street legal so I would have to really have some broke crap...

But being tired of working on crap is why I work on trains, instead of an auto repair shop anymore.

My 4 runner is the only thing I own that doesn't leak a single drop anywhere.

Runs great too. wanna buy it back!? :greg:

I hate it too... But some days are better than others. Like the time it was -15 outside (seriously ) and my diesel's fuel pump decided to give up--that was fun! Yep the in-laws learned some new vocabulary from my endless-in the driveway-ranting that night

I wish I could be one of those people that has NO clue as to what an alternator or starter is. The type of person that's vehicle (small compact car) gets them from point a to b and that's it. I work with a lot of people like that and you don't see them ever having car problems... It just seems like the people that know how to work on crap are the ones that have the most issues.

Now I get to buy tires for both the Cummins... Second mortgage?:ugh::rolleyes:

Look at it this way, if you don't do it you can pay someone 10X more than the part costs to have them fix it.

I completely understand, I have four cars and have been working on my cruiser every weekend since Memorial Day.

I'm just glad every time something breaks on one of my cars that I can fix it.

:D

I hear you there, I'm glad I have the garage, tools & knowledge to fix most of what breaks. I'm just getting tired of maintaining our 'fleet'. We have 4 cars as well. I would have thought that more vehicles = less driving each = less wear & tear each = less work. WRONG!! It seems like I just have more problems from more vehicles.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Misery loves company or so I hear.

You're telling me, I thought I was on my own here.

The Jeep runs great... I'm good there, it's just my Dodge tow rig, the fuel efficient TDI Jetta and the camping/exploring daily driver Landcruiser that have problems. You can keep the 4Runner... :cody:

NEVER!!! Not a Ford man, that's for sure. :D I don't need those kind of problems. :p

Yes, those kinds of problems ARE a doozy. Take for instance the fact that after replacing my glow plug relay, my FORD has run flawlessly for the entire year that I've owned her. Oh, and then there would be the mighty Henry who is 6 years old with 125,000 miles on him and he still starts every single day and pulls Lucy around happily. Yes indeed....it's a burden to own Fords! :p

Doesn't change that I don't like Fords... :D

No so long ago, my daily drivers consisted of a 72 Chevy 4X4, a 68 Corvette, and a 59 Napco.. I finally got fed up with the never ending tinkering, and sold them all to buy something brand spanking new. I do miss the Vette, but I'm glad I made the change. Life is much nicer when you can tinker on what you want to in the garage.

The really bad part is three really sweet Chevy's gave their life for one new Ferd............ :(

There's a long list of reasons why I don't like Fords, no reason to fill up this thread with pages of why I don't care for 'em. My previous Dodges were great, my 1st had over 220k miles on it when I sold it and didn't have any issues. I should have just kept that one, it was sexy. :greg: I'm convinced our '03 had been driven hard by the previous owner, until he realized it was a lemon. We bought it from a shady used car lot with 70k miles and it's been nothing but one problem after another, starting soon as we left the lot. Not normal for the track record that I've had based on my previous 2 Dodges.

I had the same feeling as many. I once told my wife when we were newly married that some people have big dreams for what they want do in life and who they want to be-I just want a car that doesn't have to be worked on all the time.:rofl: We now own a 99 Accord and a 2007 Tacoma. All I do to those is change the oil and put gas in em.:greg::greg:

My Jetta had been that way until 2 months ago. Ended up missing a couple days work & the wife had to bring the Dodge & trailer up to Wyoming to pick me & the car up. Like I said, I'm tired of working on our cars.

"The rising tide lifts all the boats." Remember that, always. :D

I just got a whole nother Burb for just a little more than the cost of a new transmission. That's why I love Chevy's. I definitely get my money's worth out of them...

and the Blazer should be back to shape by Wednesday evening. WOO HOO
