calipers, parking break, 4.56's, locker, pinion, disks, wheel spacers, setup for ZJ coils/shocks, beefed up diff cover, and painted pretty. 500 bucks.

like I said, i'm glad there is no resale value in stuff like this. although, the lack of resale value hit me pretty hard when I sold my buggy.

I'm not that worried about breaking it the way I plan on using this thing. it's plenty strong for what I need. I would never put one in a rig that I was going to punish--but the most difficult terrain this rig will see is like Pritchett Canyon so I'm not particularly worried about it.

So how big are you going this time? Sounds like your taking a huge step backwards and more towards the a DD budget crawler type that eventually grows into a trailer queen crawler.

Hmmmm, really doesn't seem like a step backwards to me. And the way I see it, everything we all wheel is "budget" on some level....

I was comparing his old rig cabilities versus the new one,sorry should been clear on that. Amen to the we all wheel on some type of budget level. Personally I'm all for the budget crawler versus full on tube buggy thing. How far away are you from hitting the trails with it Cody?

I have several customers running 40" tires on 8.8's I built - and yes, they do use them.

8.8's are a great axle, after being modified. Put some Ford big bearings on it (no more c clips and the bearing doesn't ride directly on the axle), weld the axle tubes to the housing and you're good to go!

I have some Yukon shafts for that, Cody... Make ya good deal just to get rid of them. Yes, they are brand new as well.

They're beefy for what they originally came in, and for the sissy wheeling I do. I don't care what the haters say, I like my axle and I'm sticking to it! :greg:

I will still put one of my built 8.8's up against a D60, D44 or 9" any day... They are also lighter and have more clearance. If you are worried about the 'small' 31 spline axles, then put 40 spline axles in it. Now what!?

ya it's a huge step backwards but, in a sense, it's a step forward. I'm working towards a 5 vehicle system. I used to miss having a rig that I could go camping in comfortably and do some exploring, so this rig is going to be that. I like to go fast, but setting up a buggy to be nimble around corners and to suck up jumps takes away from it's rock crawling ability. I'm done with trade off I want

Moderately capable camping rig
Tow rig
commuter car

I have 3 of them now, but I'm selling the tow rig to pay back some debt to get into a better position to make the rest happen. I wouldn't mind a boat and a chopper too. I've done a good job getting out from my credit card debt I created through school and spending 50 days a year in moab. Once thats gone I should be able to move some investments around to have all the toys I want.

It's a good thing I'm single and selfish.

As far as when this rig is ready, It was born ready. It's gone out a few times--elephant hill, hells revenge, rattlesnake etc. Running Hole in the Rock in the near future. Just want to get a beefier rear and some long arms on it--then I'll call it a day.
