Fiberglass????? what kind of roof do you have????

Ya it is two layers of asphalt and one layer of shake. Nasty 1x underneath. I have to strip it all and re-sheath the whole thing and in the mean time frame up the addition and tie it all together. I wish I was at this point a month ago.

I have been doing the whole addition myself with a little help from friends. Nothing goes as fast as you would hope. That and the wife telling me all summer "we have lots of time" so we can go to family stuff.

I have been trying to spin trusses up today, alone in the wind. Not safe at all. I think I will wait for later tonight so I don't fall and break my back.

wow that sounds like what we are going to have to deal with. 1x6 slats under 3 layers of shingles, strip it all off and resheath it all and there will be an addition on the front and on the back of the house. o am not looking forward to this project, i feel for you man.

I still am thankful that they make people that do this stuff for others.

I figure every hour I spend at work can buy at least 5 'imported' man hours of good labor. I'll sit in my nice chair and cut some deals and then pay someone else to do my dirty work.

The joy of being lazy!

I did the math on my job. $10k for strip, sheath and shingle vs. I have the tools, I have the materials and I have people willing to help.

That and I cant swing $10k right now and it has to be done asap.

Tacoma, you don't need to drive in from east wendover to work on my place for 5 hours. That is a huge wast of gas and time. Thanks for the offer tough.

but how much of that 10k is materials?

But I understand. I'm sorta in the middle of a backyard project and it's expensive to do stuff.

I live in East GUAM, Foolio! Well ok then. If you get in a bind or something, let me know. I had to reroof my parents huge old farmhouse AND the enormous barn/garage one summer, and I would never leave anyone to that themselves unless they want it that way. :D

I nearly passed out from breathing the fumes in the sun.... Ever go windmilling backwards towards a 35' tall edge? Wakes you RIGHT UP hahahahah
