come on... of course not, but with rocky its a whole different story. All of my family are big time democrats and they cant stand him and his views. And the reasoning behind what he does.

I don't understand your post. Is he wrong by holding the rally or was he within his rights? I do understand you don't like him, but that is kind of beside the point.

The opportunity to say what you want, or to protest how you want(as long as it's not endangering or taking anyone else's rights away) when others' may have differing opinions, is what makes this country what it is... just gotta let 'em protest against what they want... we all have that right, just some explore it a bit more than others... ;)

Of course that is what makes our country great. I just think a mayor should set his personal agenda aside and represents his constituents, i mean that is why we choose who we choose so that our voice is heard and I dont feel like he is doing that, but hey that is strictly my opinion.

So what you're saying is he, as mayor, should represent the more polular opinion of the people? I agree to an extent... are the people partying it up at the rally thinking they've got a great mayor for voicing his opinion; which happens to be the same as thier opinion? whereas we sit back and disagree and want to see someone egg his house for some reason(cause that's what really makes people want to change their views:-\ )...there's always the group of people who feel they got thier cake and can eat it, and then the group who feel that they got nothing... that's all i'm saying... nobody can please both sides...

i don't agree with his views, but you gotta see it from the other angles too.

Why not? He is entitled to freedom of speech as well... no matter his job title.

Because it sends a message of weakness and confusion to the rest of the world.

We ( I say we democrats, republicans, white, brown, AMERICAN. ) have a tarnished record as it is. We need to stand together, maybe going to war wasnt the best idea, maybe false information was presented but this horse **** on the tv across the world isnt going to change that. What happened happened, all we can do is move forward from this point, Rocky is moving us backwards.

I bet egging his house will surely change his mind too.

Couldnt hurt... and if he has the right to protest why dont I? Because I dont have the same views as you? Because my rally wasnt organized?

I object to Rocky's participation mostly because he is the elected figurehead and executive decision maker of UTAH"S LARGEST CITY and as such, he represents, to a large extent, a certain... symbol of the state.
Yes, he has the right to speak his mind, and along with that he is not immune to the criticism of what he says. When you take up with a bunch of know-nothings who are against all KINDS of things, and say the kind of nonsense that Rocky Anderson says, then you deserve to be thought... less highly of.
Absolutely right he'd keep his mouth shut if he was going to run again. F***ing cowardly if you ask me. Unprincipled! if you ask me.
I was at the library, and I asked probably 20 people from the rally, with their "end the occupation of Iraq" stickers, just what do you object to. Answers: "we shouldn't be fighting, we should solve things diplomatically" "we're losing thousands and thousands of troops" "our army shouldn't be in a foreign country" (?!????)

not really literate answers. And to judge by the look of them, many of them JUST OBJECT, like so many lemmings. No meat! No war! No cars! No guns! No money!! etc etc.

Well put... If he was some random guy I wouldnt care. I would still think less of him, but I wouldnt want to egg his house.

He also distracted from the fact that George W. Bush was here to honor veterans. Lame. He only had the balls to say it because he isnt running again. Double lame.

I have yet to hear an educated response with valid reasons as to why George W. Bush shouldnt have done what he has done. Most protestors just think
"Oh some celebrity(Green Day, Dixie Chicks... MANY others) said he was wrong so I'm going to to."

I seriously enjoy hearing from an anti-Bush person who actually knows what they are talking about.
