UVU is an amazing campus!! they just finished building the all new science building. Currently building a new Student center that will have bowling lanes, weight rooms cardio rooms, studying area, and much much more.
If you are not a winter person, UVU is the place to be. You can get from 1 end of campus to the next from inside the buildings, Each building is connected to each other through a series of inclosed hallways. Automotive program is amazing, campus is beautiful, and located right of I-15. Student housing is fairly inexpensive with about 10 apartment complexes within walking distance to the school. Student population is the largest in the state of utah at just under 35k student population. This is probably one of the more technologically advanced schools I would say throughout the Western United States. I highly recommend attending UVU. Whether you are looking into going through body shop, automotive gas, diesel, hot rods, they have a excellent and wide variety of automotive classes. If I wasn't going through exercise science major, I would be going through the automotive section.

^ Pretty good summary of UVU.

In Utah, UVU has a.... stigma... junior college/high school part 2, etc. I had attended a few semesters at the University of Utah when I transferred to UVU, and can say that I received a better quality education at UVU than the U, comparing gen eds to gen eds. I was in the accounting program at UVU, and was very happy with the results. Graduated in 2010.

I know nothing about their automotive program. I always walked through the building and wished I was taking their classes instead of cost accounting

I'm finishing my double bachelors degree in their automotive program and technical sales at Weber State University. It's been a good experience, call down and speak with John Kelly, program director and instructor. He will give you great insight about the program and possible career choices. I have a few friends that have graduated and are working at Tesla, Cummins, and GM. With the bachelors degree auto program, you take 7 more sales classes and it gets you the technical sales degree.

I think I've seen you on t4r.org, welcome to RME.

I recently graduated from UVU, though not in the automotive program, but I wouldn't listen to the stigma of it being a junior college/ high school especially if you're not from Utah. I'm came out here from the Sacramento area for similar reasons to yours. Cost of living is much cheaper out here than in Cali. I took some of the automotive classes and I enjoyed them. Good teachers and a decent shop. The campus is great!

Can't speak for UVU personally, although everything I have heard from recent students has been positive. I think it is now the largest college in Utah and they have made huge strides in a short time.
