In search of the Anasazi (Beef Basin)

We went down to Beef Basin a couple of weekends ago to check out the Anasazi ruins and to do some exploring. We camped two nights in the BLM designated camp spots and didn't have any company. The stars at night were awesome. The ruins are all over the place if you looked for them. We really had a great time finding them. They can be found down every road that goes off the main roads. Some of the roads have been closed off so you have to hike to some of them. The last one we went to was a cliff dwelling that required a bit of climbing to get to. After the ruins we went down Bobby's Hole then came up into Canyonlands through the Needles District and came out Elephant Hill. Great trip, great company and excellent weather. Here are a few pictures. The pictures are as follows: Salt Creek overlook, small ruin, Farm House ruin, Tower ruin, ruin back of camp, cliff ruin, very large ruin, cliff dwelling, parking for lunch, and Bobby's hole.

Very cool Dave, Beef Basin and Ruin Park are always neat to explore. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

What kind of shape was Elephant Hill in? I heard that earlier this year it was so rough that the NPS had it closed at one point?

Elephant Hill was in good shape, at least the last half was. We came in from the south so we missed the first part of the trail. Others were on it so I think they must have fixed whatever was wrong. I didn't see any trail repairs except on the road going to the trail head.
