Anyone else seen this Jeffery Mowen guy in the news? The Feds are now auctioning off his exotic/classic vehicle collection..

Story Here

They are being stored in an undisclosed warehouse, U.S. Marshal's said. The 220 cars include a DeLorean, a replica of the "General Lee" from the TV show "Dukes of Hazzard," exotic cars, classic muscle cars, vintage cars, motorcycles, Porsches, Bentley's, Mercedes, BMWs, and even rare cars from the early 20th century.

I've been watching these cars be transported for several weeks, and have been in awe of how amazing they are. I'll see flatbed trucks with 1-2 classics on the back, and one in tow heading east down 700 S.. Just yesterday I took the Cruiser for a quick jaunt and saw the warehouse door open and one of the wreckers coming out loaded down with some cars. Then heard of the connection to this Jeffery Mowen guy this morning..

Might be worth it to go to the public viewing just to see these awesome cars.

Yeah, there was a couple stories on KSL.com about these cars a couple weeks ago. He's got everything in there from exoctic cars to run of the mill Super Duties.

Yeah, I'll be there. This quote from one of the auctioneers is why I'm excited to attend:

I'm a third-generation auctioneer," Olson said. "This is the nicest collection I've ever seen -- ever."

There are 2-3 auctions a month that have diverse and exotic catalogs.

Thanks to Kurt for giving me the initial heads-up on this auction. I haven't seen this auction publicized in the collector car circles very well, so I'm hoping to snatch a few cars that might fall through the cracks.

There are a few cool things in there for sure. Mostly replicas, which are lame.

Fraud Charges, and SLC based.... so was it....?

Novuea Riche?

Primerica?

Franklin Squires?

MonaVie?

Jus?

Based out of SLC, but multimillion dollar fraud blah blah blah....

Who did he defraud?

Gone in 60 seconds anyone? There are about 10 more that I have seen that are not on that list.

The auction company is saying that the cars listed are the cars in the sale. I called them since they claimed to have 240+ vehicles, but only listed half that number online. Perhaps some of the cars were sold through another venue, although it seems odd.

If someone goes to the auction next week I'd be interested in knowing how much the ratrod goes for...

I thought that might happen. The dude isn't going to sit around and allow his collection to be given away.
