On New years Eve I did some major damage to my lower back. After many doctor visits and physical therapy I thought I was finally getting over it until two days ago when I was putting on my work boots and threw it out again. I'm starting to accept the fact I probably wont be back on a dirtbike this season. Ugh.. could be worse I guess but I'm still pretty bummed out about it :-\

Anyway have any of you guy's had an injury that prevented you from being able to ride? What was happened? How did you deal with it?

I have tweaked my right wrist and it's my reoccurring injury. When I first hurt it, I actually had it X-ray'd to see if I had fractured anything. It was quite swollen and I didn't have much range of motion. I didn't have any breaks or fractures, but it does hurt every now & again when it gets pulled on due to riding.

I took some time off from 'dirt biking' and did more dual sport riding. I still got my fix and it wasn't as demanding on my body.

As far as you, take care of your back... let it heal up and don't worry about missing the riding season. You will be back at it before you know it, I know it seems like the end of the world, but you will be back riding sooner than you think. Best of luck!

3 years ago I crashed and tore my MCL. It took more than two years to say I think it's good. I crashed last year and did a partial separation of my shoulder. I can hardly touch the back of my neck but I can still ride. I am going in for surgery this fall to fix it. I think the Doc called it an ACL ligament in my shoulder that I tore. It's actually really painful at times.

A few years ago I took a 30 ft drop to flat ground. The impact forced my left hand back on top of my forearm, severed several nerves, and also broke 3 ribs. After 2 surgeries on my wrist my hand was back in place. I had to take 3 months off work and an additional 2 months on restricted weight. It took a whole year for my nerves to regenerate and come back to my fingertips. Needless to say I didn't get any more riding in that year. My biggest loss was muscle mass from being inactive for so long, don't let that happen to you

Ouch you guys! Is it wrong for me to say I'm glad I'm not the only one

I worked on a farm up until I graduated high school which mostly involved me cleaning/clearing debris and fallen trees from canals and moving sprinkler pipe all day everyday. Non-stop bending, lifting and twisting.. Lifting with a straight back and using my legs was something I had never heard of so needless to say that's where I first experienced the pain in my lower back. I've had it randomly ever since then which usually put me out for a day or so. On New Years I took it to the next level. I tried to move my Honda generator out of the back of my Land Cruiser. I didn't think it was that heavy and I should have known better..... :ugh: The L3 disk I've always had trouble with basically compressed, exploded, popped out and lodged itself into my spinal cord---there's a fancy name for it but I can't remember what it is LOL. If I hold still it doesn't bother me but if I move in just the right way which is always random its like getting struck by lightning followed with intense muscle contractions.

Today I brushed the dust off of my tackle box and fishing poles

Being 10,000 miles from my bike

We have been in some amazing terrain here in Aus and it would be a motobike paradise. Because some areas are so remote they get very little moto use unless they have a 4x4 to haul their fuel.

My heart pumps piss for you Kurt.

I currently have a knee that has been giving me trouble since I hurt it at work slipping on some ice in January. It was the deciding factor on my not making the RME Moab ride a month or so back as it was particularly sore that week. I've regretted not going ever since. It's been hurting bad today, but I might still try to go ride some tomorrow to see how it does. Riding a stationary bike for 20 minutes a couple days back nearly killed me though...
