Insurance point closed for business

Well, the wife and I headed up Mary Ellen Gulch today to see the sights. Wonderful ride, however if you are headed up to the final business end of road you are too late … it’s blocked by two slides … looks like the heavy rain the other day did its damage up there!!

The first slide (biggest) is about 75 yards sort of the mine entrance. A smaller one is about 20 yards from the entrance

Crazy how much earth can move when it gets wet... I'd suspect that one might be there for sometime, its not in the FS proper if I'm looking at the pics correctly. It would most likely be repaired in the future by the property owners... if they decide to repair it that is.

I think those slides have been there a while. Was it clear to where you could drive to the mine? I was up there on 8/15 with some rented ATVs and friends from out of town. We parked at the first slide and walked the rest of the way. Looked way to scary to drive on.

PS. AYL had a quick blurb on their upcoming show... NPLD footage. They showed MPD climbing out of his TJ gathering trash. Your dream came true!

According to their website it's on at 9 and 11 AM on Sunday on channel 4. Next week will be the NPLD story, then the week after will be some stuff about the Moab RMP, and then I think the week after that will be our story from AF Canyon.
