visualizing the cargo area of the xj i am imagining that the top seat belt bolts, top seat bolts (the latch release mechanism) and the floor seat mounts would actually make good points to tie in the net. i wish i had a big old heavy duty sewing machine, i could just have my mom make me a net with some HD strap :D

You could probably fashion your own net.. I was refering to building a mounting system for an internal rack though. :)

gotcha, you should develop one and provide info to the masses...
i think the xj would be a great model to make a mounting system for, i know there are lots of moms out there that have a hard time keeping their soccer balls and grocery bags organized
i just thought about making a similar rack/deck out of wood but now that i have seen yours that idea doesn't seem so awesome anymore.
i am going to look into some strap and hooks though for making a net because they raingler one is $120

Invisible, on purpose!
People underestimate the use of conduit. Its strong (for what it is), light weight and most importantly... CHEAP!

Here is a really old skool pic for ya. I built an entire cooler rack out of EMT. Never had a problem unless I rolled backwards and smashed it.

X2!

I rolled my XJ over a homebuilt basket rack (1/2" & 3/4" EMT) & it only deflected 2" at the most & broke 3 welds at the point of highest impact!:)

That same rack built with conduit would carry 300# easy & prolly weigh 30% less!

And as to the galinizing fumes, yes, I've learned my lesson the hard way, have a couple of fans going & open the garage doors, you'll be fine:tara:

BTW: Unistrut is another extremely fundamental product that is available to the home garage fabricator:bryson:! Know it! Use it!:D
