Now you've intrigued me. I can't personally imagine any circumstance HERE where Russian would intrude into my life. Where I grew up in NY, there was a large Ukrainian population, and Russian may have had some nominal usefulness.

Tell me more. Is there a secret Russian underground here??? That would be great. Russia herself fascinates me. I'm surfing Englishrussia as we speak. :D
There is a fairly large Russian immigrant population in Utah. But its not so much that as now that I speak and read a little, I seem to notice it so much more and I get frustrated when I can't understand it. Like in O'Hare the other week I was posting up in a quite corner waiting for my flight and reading a book when suddenly I noticed that everyone around me was speaking Russian. I had found myself in the waiting area for the American flight to Moscow. It was interesting to sit and listen, but I would have been hard pressed to reply because though I could understand, I can't speak for sh!t.
Or I'll run across an old Soviet poster or book in my wanderings, and I can read like 30% of it. Just things like that. Russia fascinates me as well, maybe thats why I studied Cold War history.
