Oh dang it finally happened. These are so hard to find as it is let alone finding a clean one--it almost didn't happen but I got lucky :D

1991 F350 Lariat 4 door with the 7.3 IDI (all mechanical no computer), 5speed (the hard to find part) and a king pin high pinion dana 60 and my all time favorite front clip. Pillow top capatain chairs front and back make for the most comfortable ride out of any truck built in the 90's.

It is hard to replace my first gen Cummins but two adults, a stick shift and a car seat brings the suck. I've been giggling like a little school girl all day!

Nice truck! Did you get a good deal???

Really good deal. :D In the last two weeks the guy had his home repossessed, two cars repossessed and he couldn't get approved for a second bankruptcy... SCARY :ugh: He needed money really bad. Luckily for me he kept a VERY (the best I've ever seen) detailed record of every repair and service that it had seen in the last ten years so it had not been neglected which was a huge relief.

RTT to be mounted over the bed?

Sweet truck

You bet! I'm not counting my chickens yet, but I have a line on an Alaskan Camper that has been stored indoors since new. At that point I would truly be in heaven!

Its a big truck for sure, but I can't wait to take it exploring. I have to plan my trips a little better though--it would take a LOT to pull this thing out of the mud :p

Is that a Centurion? the wood makes me think so.

If so, jump on board www.fourdoorbronco.com.. we are lovers of all things Centurion, not just big azz SUV's, Cabriolet/Cruisers, 6 door crews, ex cab crews.. and whatever else rolled out of that factory.

I'm really thinking that it might be. I have not seen any badges or anything, but there are a few things that suggest it may be. I haven't had much time to go through it, but this weekend I plan to go through all the fluids and such--hopefully I can find something. That would be cool if it was one

Very nice. I have been looking at some of the older fords and been wondering about the difference between computer and mechanical. Any good reads to help me understand the diff.

Were you only looking for the diesel or the gasser 460 as well?

Congrats on this. It looks very nice.

Thanks  The mechanically injected Fords were built from 83-94. In 88 the 7.3 was introduced but it is very similar to the previous 6.9. In 93.5-94 Ford offered a turbo option which was supplied by ATS. In 94.5 the IDI's turned into a direct injection (DI) computer controlled 7.3 known as the PowerStroke. My preference is the IDI, but the PSD is a very good reliable engine too both were designed to be a true work horse. Hope this helps.

460?! :ugh: YUK. Nothing wrong with them.... I'm very bias towards diesel :D A turbo'ed 7.3 will put out much more power, last much longer and give much better fuel mileage.

www.Oilburners.net is a great resource for the IDI's too.

Thanks for the info. I now have some reading to do.
Side note before reading a bunch.. any main pointers to look out for when looking at this generation of motor, transmission or vehicle as a whole?

I'm looking for short bed 4 door. I know they are hard to find.. but Im going to keep looking. Probably 6-8 months till i am truly ready but if i find something that strikes a bell ill prob get it.

Again, thanks for the info and congrats on the truck.

The 4 door short beds were only offered in the F250's and you could only get them with the PSD. The F250s used a unique front axle that pivots in the middle (Twin Traction Beam TTB IFS) that is fairly strong, but eats balljoints and rod ends like candy.

I would look for an 87-97 if you get a diesel. They typically have transmissions with overdrive whether it be the five speed manual or the 4 speed auto. The Automatics don't have a great reputation, but the is a lot of aftermarket support for them if you did get one with problems.

Owning a diesel can be a complete nightmare if you get one that has been neglected and abused. Sign on and read this http://oilburners.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=80 If you keep up on the glow plugs, change filters (oil and fuel) and change your oil when you should a good running IDI will last an incredibly long time without any headaches.

ATS turbo

Is there documentation on when the turbo was put on. or who in stalled it? I have seen the ATS turbos and air filter assemblys that look just like my factory ford set up, that one looks like an earlier version.

I need to get my IC hooked up to lower my EGT's then I can turn up my fuel alittle more:).

Nice truck, but i like my 94 better.
