Trying to wrap up the shock mounts. It’s been a much longer job than I anticipated. Hopefully I can finish fitting and welding those before too long. We’ll see.

I also picked up some 2x6 a while back. The two top pieces are going to be sliders, but the bottom is going to be split into two pieces, which will turn into front and rear bumpers.8BC10F37-E937-40A4-8769-4072B0E4AF62.jpeg

Unfortunately, I don’t think any of this will happen before Delta comes around, which I was really hoping for, but that’s life.

Oh, I also have a new steering pump on its way; the WJs with a 4.7 had hydraulic cooling fans, so they’re a bit stronger and move more fluid than the standard steering pumps that come in the ZJs and XJs.

So like I told myself I wouldn’t do, I have multiple large projects halfway complete all at the same time- hydro assist, cutting brakes, shocks.

Not a huge technical update, more of a symbolic update. Finally got the last shock in. This ended up being a far greater job than it needed to be, and ate up a ton of time, but oh well. I just need to grab some longer hardware for the top, and cut the bottom bolt down, and it’s good to go. I will have to do something with the upper coil mounts as well, as they’re onboard from the axle side mount, and causes some pretty significant binding/bowing.

I also need to revisit the rear upper shock mounts, as those have not yet been reinforced and tied into the frame. Suggestions and advice is welcomed 👍

Wow. Five months since the last update. I think the last time I actually worked on it was mid-May. Life has been very busy lately, so I’ve had no time to do anything with the Jeep. Literally zero free time. So all I’ve been able to do is order parts and throw them in the pile.

How much am I going to hate this? It sticks about 9” from the grill. I worry about approach angle and air flow. I could probably get it back another 2-3” or so if I *gasp* chopped up the grill. Also, I’ll be building some sort of “wings” to protect the lights.

*Nothing is welded in this pic; just a winch plate resting on top of the brackets.

I think you’d hate it a lot. I’ve never had a winch and it’s been ok 🤷🏼‍♂️
