Jam nut as part of thread engagement

hello all. I’m mid process building a tie rod and drag link out of DOM. When I am doing my calculations to ensure I have enough thread engagement, is/can the jam nut be included as part of the thread engagement? My thinking would say yes, but I’ve been wrong before

Did a Google search and didn’t find much. Maybe I’m using the wrong wording.

I understand what you're trying to say, and I would say no to that. Since they are two separate pieces, if the jam nut were to loosen, you would not have enough engagement anymore.
