No signal from the ignition switch, check switch starter relay etc. It just needs a ignition 12v source

so i went out this morning to take the gf to work and it fired up,started up 6 time's and when i went to start it after fueling up. NOTHING wound up jumping the starter to get home.

the relay's check out, everything that i can think of seems to be fine.

Neutral Safety switch? all yukked up? ( I don't know what jeep you have so it is hard for me to be too specific but sounds like an NSS to me :)

mine had that problem and it was intermittent just like yours so i just put a jumper wire in place of the relay and forgot about it.

is it ghetto? sure, but i don't care cause it's a cheap jeep

it's a 97 grand xj i played around with the ing switch and hit it a few time and put it in park and neutral wile trying to start it. nothing.

i need to run some errands and ill try jumper wire and test some more stuff...

not how i wanted to spend my day off...:(

Bypass the NSS real quick and see if that is the culprit..

today has been a joke. had to take my mustang to get checked out then had to go pick up the gf and do her run arounds and i just got back. i swaped the relay's out with the a/c and one from the bronco that i know work's. no go. im pretty sure now that it's the NSS im about to head out and fiddle with it. no idea what wire is what so will take a min to find out witch is witch.

if this don't work ill just half to run a switch from the wire's from the relay to a switch to start it. my day off has gone to hell and i cant take the gf to work tomorrow.

i bet it's the ignition switch, they go out. that happened to my buddy so we put in a push button under the dash. way cheaper and easier than fixing it for sure. it still needs the key to unlock the column but the push button starts it

put a voltmeter on the starter relay signal wire in the pdc, turn the key and see if you're getting power

k, i swaped out the relay with one's i know are good, no go. so crawled under and tested the nss and got nothing at all from ether post's.
so tryed to bypass it and still nothing.

so wound up running two wires from the relay to a button under the dash.

next time i get a chance ill test that and see if im getting anything, but sound's like that's the problem. strange tho how i didnt get any cind of a reading from the nss.

is the nss in between the ignition switch and the relay? if that's the case it makes perfect sense that the ignition switch is bad. you can tap into the ignition switch wire under the dash, there are write-ups online
