Why did you have the pedal to the floor pulling up on a trailer? It can't stick "wide open" unless you open it in the first place.

Actually it can, The hand throttle cable got hung up and held the TB open.

Hand throttle or foot throttle doesn't change anything. It can only stick open as far as you open it to begin with. Still, even 1/4 open stuck throttle pulling up on a trailer could send you through the back window of an Excursion quick. Sucks dude. Was the damage limited to the tailgate, or is there more. Hopefully you can just replace the tailgate and it'll be as good as new.

tailgate, window, bumper, some body, but shouldnt be too bad, paid the deductable and Ill let the nisurance fix it. Thats why we have it, right?

And your right I dont think it was full open, but in 4 lo at 4:1 with 4.88's its enough for the brakes not to hold it back.

Im sure glad I like you guys...

XJ recieved 2 friggin scratches on the bumper. Getting them seperated was alot of fun, the spare tire on th trailer and the front rail hung up on the front axle, and the front bumper was sitting on the tailgate.

Reminds me of a guy I work with. Wife drove home in a hurry in her Audi, opened up the car door and “dented” his fiberglass corvette. Really took a chip out of his Corvette. So now she was upset that she damaged his car, so she reversed out quick and accidentally rammed her Audi into the side of his 4 runner.

About $800 damage to the Audi for some tail lights and body work, another $1000 for the side of the 4 runner. And the vette paint was a metallic red that was hard to match, so it cost a full paint job on the vette as well.

Kind of like a mini demolition derby. She crashed every car they owned in about 2 minutes of time. After about a year he found some humor in it all.

That sucks Brian. I watched a buggy go into a tailgate of a truck at a UROC competition once, it was one of those things where you can only shake your head with a smirk on your face and say, "Oooh, maaaan."

If you get lucky at a salvage yard, they 'might' have a white Excursion rear hatch with the same color as yours (being white, you've got a better chance than most) and it 'might' even match your white close enough you might not have to process the claim (thus bumping your insurance rates).

I once tore the door off my girlfriend's car... hopped in to move it, didn't even think aobut the dumpster... open door bent all the way forward. Luckily it just bent the hell out of the door and nothing happened to the pillar. Sucked carrying that thing from the back of the yard though.
