I have used Tera Flex and Millers in Sandy. Right now I think I have a noise from the right hand exhaust manifold or tappet noise with hearing aids not sure which. Any suggestions for a place to take it in South Jordan?

1995 with the 5.2 V8. Had to have the right exhaust manifold buttoned down three times before 80k miles but none to 159K until now.

Sound has gone away entirely. Took it to LHM in Sandy and they told me what I knew, engine is old probably a temporary blockage of oil to lifter, don't worry about it unless it does not go away after short period of time. This sounds reasonable to me, how about you. I did not smell exhaust or unburned fuel.

The clickity-clack sound is back and it is coming from the transmission. Goes away after warm up. Had transmission rebuilt after 80k miles so at 159K it may be due. Fluid is full and red. Is there any miracle fix or maybe just an adjustment? If it needs work is there a rebuild that makes it better or more fuel efficient?

converter might be going bad. Sometimes they will sound like a rod knock. Could be a cheaper fix

More commonly the converter bolts will start to back out and make contact, remove inspection/dust cover and take a look at the bolts as you rotate the flex plate. If they used the correct Atf+4 fluid it should not need replacing after 60k miles unless you tow a lot with it and the fluid gets hot often, but replacing the filter and cleaning the magnet couldn't hurt though.

This really surprised me, it was the catalytic converter. I saw Todd at AAMCO. 90th and the I 15, and he did a complete check on the transmission and it was good. The noise was coming from the CC. It looks like I will wait until the next smog check and have it replaced

If the catalyst is breaking up inside it can have very negative side effects if a chunk decides to block exhaust flow while accelerating.

Sounds reasonable to me, I have also noticed my gas mileage has dropped to 13 MPG. Does $400 sound like a good price for a new one?
